About Us

The Riverdale Art Association was created in 1999, by a small group of artists for the purpose of exhibiting, selling their work and sharing information about art in all its forms. The founders of RAA met in their homes and became exposed to each others' artistic talents.
It was established that there would be monthly business meetings with visiting artists, trips to museums, exploring environs to sketch, paint and photograph in the community and beyond.
Officials were elected and by-laws were established. Various committees were formed, to plan and manage the activities of the Association. Exhibitions, both juried and non-juried, were planned and facilitated. Among the committees formed were membership, exhibition, publicity, sponsorship and trips. This resulted in opening up the Association and welcoming all talented artists, of all media, in all stages of development.
The Riverdale Art Association has emerged as a democratic, community-oriented group.
We have had exhibitions in Apple Bank, Sterling Glen at Forest Hills, The Riverdale Neighborhood House, The Elizabeth Seton Library of the College of Mount Saint Vincent, Manhattan College, the Riverdale and Midtown Manhattan Atrias, The Riverdale YM/YWHA, the Bronx Borough President's Office, Cabrini Nursing Home, Billy's Gallery and the Ginger Grill Restaurant, etc. Our annual membership fee is thirty dollars and the exhibition fee for our shows is fifteen dollars. We also have a student member category with a membership fee of only twenty dollars. We cordially invite artists from Riverdale and its surrounding areas to join RAA and start enjoying all the benefits the Association can bring you. Thank you for visiting RiverdaleArtAssociation.org.
